Google's going all-in on AI this year at their “Made by Google 2024 event”. Here's what caught my eye:
Call Notes - When you’re on a call, your conversation will be transcribed/summarised in Call Notes so if you ever forget details mentioned, you can always check. This runs privately on your phone so no data would be sent to the cloud. Very cool!
Add Me - Ever miss out on a group photo? No worries! This mind-blowing feature lets you insert yourself into group shots after the fact. It's like time travel for your selfies! 🤳
Made You Look - You can make your little kids look at the camera and smile by showing them their favourite characters/image on the front screen of the Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold while on the back screen you can see them smile. Very clever!
Pixel Studio - Not only can it generate nice images but edit/add to your image via chat
Pixel Weather - AI for personalized weather summaries/notifications, based on your location & tips on what to wear.
Magic Editor + Eraser - These tools in Google Photos are like having a mini-Photoshop wizard. Erase that photobomber or tweak your perspective without breaking a sweat.
Goodbye Google Assistant, Hello Gemini - This was something long overdue as Gemini, will now have context, intent, & train of thought as opposed to the generic search queries from Google Assistant.

Apart from the awesome demo, there was one awkward demo that failed twice on stage.. Seems to be a common trend at Google events. Perhaps it is a marketing ploy? Or maybe just the reality of using AI tools 😬
