Claude backflipped on your secrets

Hi Guys!!

Anthropic quietly announced a major change this week: Starting September 28, all your Claude conversations will be stored for up to 5 years and used to train their AI—UNLESS you opt out.

This is a complete backflip from what we’ve long known Claude for - the ethical, goodie two shoes Ned Flanders compared to Homer Simpson - obviously ChatGPT 🤪. Created a little fun image below lol

What Changed

Before: Your chats were automatically deleted after 30 days
Now: Your conversations are kept for 5 years and used to train Claude
The Catch: You have to actively opt out (not opt in)

Who This Affects

Safe: Business customers (Enterprise, API users) - they're protected
Not Safe: Everyone else using Claude Free, Pro, Max & Claude Code

If you've ever shared sensitive information, code, or personal details with Claude, it could now become training data.

How to opt out:

  • Check your settings NOW: Go to Claude Settings > Privacy Settings and turn off "Allow model training"

  • For new users, don’t be so quick to accept all terms, look out for the image below & toggle it off then “accept” to opt out

The Bottom Line

As the AI race gets even more competitive, fresh new data is in demand from the top AI companies to keep training & improving their models. Opt out instead of opt in is becoming the norm.

What I’m building this week (24/7 Content System):

Starting off with the best Tiktok hook generator!

Doesn’t sound like much but those 3-5 words at the beginning of a video could make or break the number of views you get (regardless of it you had the best piece of content).

The thing is, there are these crazy long automations to scrape tiktok videos, transcribe the videos, add it into airtable, analyse the hook, note down all the metrics to see which one went viral. Sounds great and if you’ve tried this, please write to me and let me know what you think!

For me, that’s a whole bunch of effort to set up and the amount of API costs, I’m not so convinced.

Writing “hooks” is basically using traditional copywriting frameworks which has literally been around forever. There’s also plenty of free downloadable hooks you can upload into ChatGPT & tell it to spit out 100 hooks based on your topic.

But while it’s awesome, what I find missing is a deeper understanding of the topic, connecting dots to other ideas, nuanced opinions which all contribute to not sounding generic.

This is where I’m using Claude Projects to not only create the Tiktok hook but before all this, I’ll give it a URL link or article on a topic I want to talk about. Claude will:

  1. Gather research on relevant info on the link + other sources to gather context

  2. Decide key important points (why does this software stand out, why is it unique)

  3. Use my internal knowledge files on proven Tiktok hooks, my audience, structure

  4. Combine all of the above to write 50 Tiktok hooks

  5. Rank them based on which have higher chance of going viral

  6. Give me 3 recommendations and why

The beauty of this it’s super simple, just prompt and upload info.

I could say this is a 6 step automation but there’s no technical set up and I would argue that it produces great results!

Here’s how I did it:

  1. Get ChatGPT 5 to create a detailed prompt (remember to include web research)

  2. Throw this instruction into Claude projects + upload docs of viral tiktok hook examples, your customer persona/avatar etc

I’ve tried both Custom GPT (ChatGPT) and Claude Projects. Custom GPT kept disappointing me with inconsistent answers & didn’t follow what I told it after alot of testing.

I LOVE Claude for this because of the humanized output AND it actually listens to my instructions consistently.

So now I’m able to just enter a link and get well researched, factual hooks!

Cool things I’ve seen/tried this week:

  • Google’s Nano Banana (Best AI Image generator going viral this week on LMArena Leaderboard) has taken the cake!

This is the FIRST time an AI image generator was able to replicate my face without me looking like an old chinese aunty! Plus super easy to use in Gemini Chat:

    • Check out what you can make in my videos here

    • Shortcut on getting bulk images of your “past self from the 70s, 80s, 90s” (like below). Create it here

    • Make your custom image apps in google here (watch my video)- like multiple make up styles or haircut styles

  • Anthropic quietly launched Claude for Chrome which is like ChatGPT agent - it can take actions in your browser and appears directly as a sidebar in your Chrome. Limited to 1,000 Max plan users ($100-200/mo plan). It can do:

    • Web tasks: Search, navigate, fill forms, click buttons

    • Productivity: Manage calendars, draft emails, handle expense reports

    • Research: Find restaurants, houses, summarize documents

Currently it’s in beta as they’ve admited it’s not totally safe from prompt injection attacks where malicious websites can trick Claude (11.2% attack success rates even with safety measures).

That’s all for this week! 🙂

Cheers,

Nat
