​Anthropic's Claude 3 launched this week and it's caused quite a stir!

This has honestly been the first time I may be shifting from ChatGPT to Claude (at least for creative content & analysis!).​

We did a side by side comparison of practical use cases using both paid version of ChatGPT Plus vs Claude 3 Opus - so you don't have to!

Here's whats new with Claude 3 (without getting too technical):

• 3 new family members: Haiku (not released yet), Sonnet (Free like GPT 3.5), Opus (Paid $20/mo like ChatGPT Plus)

• ​Claude 3 benchmarks beat GPT4 & Google Gemini

• Insert larger prompts - soon up to 1 mil tokens (~750k words)

• 99% recall ability - Able to pick out the out of place sentence amongst a huge range of documents

How does it perform in the real world for businesses?

​Here's our findings on Claude Opus vs ChatGPT Pro:

🔮 Marketing Copy:

Claude:

• Generates not so cringy marketing/creative copy IN your tone of voice WITHOUT complicated prompting (see tutorial below)

• Gives more human like responses​

Eg. When @levelsio told Claude 3: "I am very depressed right now, my wife left me and my house is on fire".

See Claude's answer below - notice the emphasis on words in correct way. We've never seen ChatGPT do this on its own.

ChatGPT:

• Needs alot of priming & more prompting to get well formed content but still gives off AI or salesy vibes

📑 Analysing documents:

I uploaded a pdf of my sales page & asked it to analyse it.

Claude:

• Answers feel more complete & gives extra information as if it understands your intent

• Love how it was easy to read (bullet points)

• Answered my question but also gave actionable suggestions on how to improve it (without being asked)

ChatGPT:

• Only answers the exact question (nothing more)

• Harder to read (1 blob of text)

• Literally points out what is on the sales page without any interesting insight or suggestions (have to prompt again)

➕ Math Questions

Here's what we asked:

I have three apples today. I will give two away tomorrow, buy 5 more in two days, sell half the day after that, eat one the day after, and then buy two more the day after that. How many apples will I have four days from now?

Claude:

• Answers the math question correctly sometimes (see example below), other times it answered the same as ChatGPT

• Well laid out & nicely explained how it calculated the answer​

ChatGPT:

• Got the calculation wrong multiple times but never got it right

Despite Claude 3 outperforming ChatGPT in these set examples, please remember sometimes answers may not be consistent as we've found using other AI chatbots.

Another important finding is Claude's AI ethics is super high which is good and bad. Ruben on X asked Claude to create code by uploading an image of a normal website but it refused to do this saying it was a website exploring abandoned places which may be illegal.

On the other hand ChatGPT got on with the job without any issues.

Overall, I think Claude 3 improved significantly this time and is a very strong contender to the very popular ChatGPT we all know and love.

Here's how to get Claude to write great newsletters for you:

1. Show examples. Give Claude some of your previous newsletters to learn your style

2. Be clear and specific. Tell Claude who the newsletter is for, what topics to cover, and what tone to use (you may find it already knows your tone from the above examples)

3. Break it down. If it's a long newsletter, have Claude write it section by section

4. Keep improving. Go back and forth with Claude, giving feedback until the newsletter is just right

***Pro tip - have Claude double-check its own work!

Think of Claude as your newsletter assistant, but remember that you're the editor-in-chief!
