ChatGPT Advanced Voice Rolls Out - Finally!
Remember months ago, ChatGPT got everyone excited about Advanced Voice Mode but we all forgot about it because we were waiting for so long? Well, it’s finally here!
Just 1 week after similar feature from Google - Gemini Live launched.
To jog your memory, it could chat to you in a flirty or empathetic voice, sing songs, tell interesting stories with different tones of voices.

Here’s what you need to know:
From today, Advanced Voice Mode will be rolling out to Plus & Team users
Features include: 5 new voices, memory & custom instructions (tutorial below)
Can’t use it to: access internet, custom GPT or generate images
Still no multimodal capabilities like access your camera to get more context
Tip: If you still don’t get the Advanced Voice Mode feature, try uninstalling & reinstalling the ChatGPT app.
How we’ve been using it:
AI kids language tutor at the dinner table - It turned out to be a hilarious yet educational conversation. For e.g., correcting their tone of voice when speaking mandarin (which could be mistaken for a completely different word)!
Therapist - It seems to understand your tone of voice so if you’re happy it will also respond happily but if you’ve said you have a problem, it is able to switch to a more empathetic and understanding tone
Role Play for sales or public speaking - Get it to pretend to be an angry customer to test out how your staff perform OR how you can improve your public speaking skills
What’s interesting: I told it to “oink” like a pig but told it to do this 3 times as it wasn’t good enough. On the 3rd, ChatGPT said it wasn’t really good at it, tried to change the subject and move on. I felt like it was trying to “manage” me! 😂

You may find ChatGPT Advanced Voice won’t do certain things like if you directly ask it to sing or impersonate. But here’s some ways to get around it 🙂
