Canva Create 2024 - New AI Tools
This week Canva showcased a bunch of new AI tools at Canva Create 2024!
To be honest, it felt like many of the “new” AI tools were already there a few months ago. For example:
Text to Image - Self explanatory right 🙂
Magic Write - Personalized tone of voice
Magic Expand - Expand your image like in Adobe Firefly
Magic Edit - Brush over your image like your clothes & change outfit
I also found it a tad overwhelming & not as intuitive trying to find these AI tools.
In saying this, I have noticed Canva has always been on the ball with integrating + partnering with AI companies like Runway (text to video), HeyGen (AI avatars) and everyday apps we use like Asana, GDrive etc.
Anyway, here are my 2 favourite new AI features:
Resize and Magic Switch - Auto convert existing content into any format. Pretty cool because you could instantly convert a brainstorming session on a whiteboard into a formal document. You can also go from presentation to marketing video script.
Magic Grab - To select any element within your photo to move, remove, or replace it. Works great if you want to fix up your images without redoing the whole photoshoot or require someone with Adobe/tech skills to edit.
Fun fact: When I was researching the Canva event, they weren’t going viral for their new AI tools but for their “cringe” on stage Rap Video 🤷🏻♀️
👨🍳 BAKING WITH BOTS 🤖
Hack: ChatGPT Desktop Hidden Shortcut
If you use a Mac, you can quickly screenshot any app you have opened in your web browser simply with this shortcut.
Make sure you open the ChatGPT app in the background.
Go to your web browser (ideally have multiple tabs)
Press ⌥ Option + Spacebar to open the ChatGPT launcher
Type the name of the application you want to take a screenshot of
(eg. Chrome, VSCode, Slack)Select the app when it appears
The screenshot of the app will automatically be attached to your chat
